The Patient Experience
As healthcare continues to evolve physicians must face the "Triple Aim" concept - better health, better care and lower costs - and how it impacts not only their interactions with patients but their business models as well. Understanding the changes in healthcare delivery allows physicians to better position themselves to focus on medicine and patient outcomes. This session will describe the Accountable Care Organization and Patient Centered Medical Home models while also introducing the concept of patient experience. Included in the discussion are the barriers to effectively engaging patients in their care and tips to achieve positive patient experience as well as the role staff play for the successful physician. Strong organizational governance is essential to being successful in the new models and challenges in this area will addressed as well.
- Participants will be able to discuss the various “managed care” delivery models in today’s healthcare market;
- Participants will be able to assess their governance as they begin the preparations needed to transition their own organization; and
- Participants will be able to formulate best practices to impact patient experience within their organizations.
